Department of Computer Science & Engineering |
The department was established in the year 2000 with the inception of the institution. It started with an initial intake of 60. The department has grown in strength over the years in terms of Infrastructure facilities, Technical expertise, Faculty Strength, Modern Teaching Aids, Browsing facilities etc. The department has currently an intake of 120 students.
The department is headed by Prof. M. Basavaraju who has more than 20 years of experience in industry and education institution.
The department is accredited by the National Board of accreditation, New Delhi. |
| |
Mission |
Prepare undergraduate students for productive careers by providing an outstanding environment for teaching, learning in theory and applications of computing. |
| |
Vision |
The vision of the department is to impart new knowledge, technologies and instill high patterns of discipline through dedicated staff.
To inculcate independent and unbiased way of thinking, while we prepare students for effective employment in industry. |

Faculty Profile |
| |
Facilities |
The department library has stocked books, journals and technical literature in addition to the central library facilities.
The department has well equipped labs for the following areas.
• Programming
• Database
• Networking
• Microprocessor
• Internet Programming
• System Software |
| |
Achievements |
Paper entitled “ A domain independent approach to semantic enabling of structured data” was presented by Prof. Basavaraju in the International Conference on Sensors, Security and Intelligent Systems in Coimbatore in Dec 2008, and it was selected as the best paper in that category. |

Seminars/Workshops |
Guest lectures are held for the benefit of the students, and the department has a good track record in conducting Faculty development programs.
A 5 day workshop on Cluster Computing was conducted Aug, 2007 as part of faculty development program which had distinguished speakers from industry and academia. The main objective of this workshop was to instill a broad understanding of High Performance computing (HPC) in the participants and prepare them to further explore cluster and grid computing in greater detail.
The workshop on compiler design was a six-day event held as part of Faculty Development Program in Aug, 2004. The program provided necessary inputs to faculty to enable them to improve the teaching of compiler design to under graduate students. The lectures were given by renowned subject experts in advanced topics like “code optimization”, “Java virtual machine”, “code generation” and “just in time compilations “. |
